A young girl crossed oceans and the world with her parents to a safe country far from the war and turbulence of Europe during WW2 as their land was destroyed along with their loved ones. This care and desire for a new land seen by my grandparents I am forever thankful for, they brought their little daughter to a land that was safe and open to optimism. This was the birth of ‘laimiga’, Latvian for happy (the female form), ‘happy’ is the meaning of ‘Felicity’, my name and my desire to create places that enable happiness, embrace diversity and respect our country. Laimiga Design Studio unites Landscape Architecture, Horticulture and Sensory Design to reflect and care for the unique character, context and culture of each project. We desire to understand the unique qualities and storytelling abilities of our clients, seeking to explore the depth of each project through careful inquiry to find a projects authentic individuality. We aim to provide careful and detailed attention to ensure universal inclusion and accessibility. Laimiga is a young company, however, its director has over 20 years of experience, having been the lead designer on numerous award-winning projects over these years an achievement due to the thorough and detailed collaboration and seeking of meaningful input from their clients. The stories, the lives, the difference that considered design makes to enable living meaningfully and the happiness that it brings is the purpose and passion behind laimiga design studio.
